My goal was to run a 5k this morning. Mission accomplished, and then some.
I'm actually really satisfied with the run because it came one day after I had two potlucks to participate in. One of our managers at work is switching departments, so everybody brought stuff in. The lunchroom, replete with a dozen succulent desserts, was a den of temptation. I visited numerous times. Then, last night, we had a potluck at Anna's preschool. I had two platefuls of amazing food. Chinese food, mexican food, standard casserole fare, desserts...nummy.
At the start of the day I decided I was NOT going to count calories and I was NOT going to feel bad for indulging. Even though I knew it might affect my run today.
So, I put on my winter gear, sucked in some Albuterol, ate a few bites of a power bar, drank a little water...and off I went. I was listening to The Two Gomers (www.twogomers.com) and toward the end they were asking about what your biggest food weakness is. I thought to myself, "Potluck food." I just feel like I need to eat some of everything! I'm sure I'm not alone.
Anyway, the run went well. Ended up running about 4.5 miles, which was more than I intended, so that's good. And I feel fine. I took a loooong bath afterward, too. I love baths.
I still need to register for the race in November. It's a little over a month away and I don't think I'm scared. I mean, I know I'm not. But there's still that hesitation, ya know? Maybe I'll sign up today.
No, I will sign up today. That's my goal.
Might I have two missions accomplished in one day??
Carpe Diem and whatnot!
