Gaining Momentum

Lost steam there for a while. The last week and a half kind of bit, to be honest. The last time I ran (before today) was last Saturday morning. It was supposed to be a big day . 4.5 miles. Seemed like it wouldn't be that big of a deal since I had done 4 the week before. A half mile more? Cake.

It was not cake.

I'm sure there were a number of reasons, but I'll spare the mundane details. Suffice it to say, I was disappointed in myself after the run. And I use the term "run" loosely. I ran probably 2 or 2.5 and then ran/walked the rest. I even cut it short . I'm sure it was just under 4. It just felt like it wasn't even worth it.

Then I didn't run until today. 5 days later. I was just out of it, mentally. Now, I have been working out a bit more, which is good, but it's not running. So, this morning was really important. Although, I didn't realize this until afterward.

And it went great. Amazing, really. I listened to The Two Gomers, which helped, I'm sure. Got my mind off the running and into something I love...my friends. I had almost finished my 5k before I was really even tired/noticing it. It just seemed pretty easy. Enjoyable even. I needed that.

Now it's time to buckle down and get my mind in this. I've talked before about it not seeming "new." but it really is going to be totally different. It's going to be frickin cold! I'm going to need to learn to run in the cold and while wearing more clothes. That's a huge difference. Today I was like, "Dude, why did you choose to run your first 10 in the winter."

I'm blaming it on peer pressure.
