A Small Victory

This morning I didn't want to wake up. I've heard that as you get older, it's not the day after a lot of activity that you get super exhausted; it's the day after that. And today is that day.

Even so, I geared up and went for a short run (mile and a half, about) in the freezing drizzle. I was breathing heavily after only a half mile, but kept going. The main reason I went out was to test my knees/legs and see how they felt. It actually seemed like they got stronger as I ran, which was good. Encouraging. But also, I just needed to get out there. I'm glad I did. I can hold onto that.

I did have my first experience with an idiot driver, though. I was running across the street through the crosswalk and a car came over the hill, quite some distance away. Far enough that I would have walked across. Well, he decided to speed up and honk at me. He wasn't even close, but felt the need to do that. Interesting. It bothered me for a second, but I let it go quickly.

All in all, a small victory, but a victory none the less. I'll take it.
