Ouch.
Ran a 5k this morning and the run itself went really well! I prepared mentally all day yesterday to run it, so I’m sure that helped. It felt good to run that distance again. And I think I finished in about 33 minutes. Nice. Oh, and I ran in a long-sleeved shirt today because I thought it was going to be cold. It wasn’t. Worst. Idea. Ever. I was so friggin’ hot and both sleeves were soaked through with sweat. What’s the deal with that? The front had nary a wet patch and I’m not sure about the back…but both sleeves? Sweat-logged. Never again. I guess that’s what I get for holstering the guns.
And what of the “ouch?” The “ouch” is because of my back. It hurt so badly afterward that I felt like throwing up. It’s still sore, but I took some ibuprofen, so I’m hoping it’ll be fine. I mean, I KNOW it will be fine. The power of positive thinking. Thanks, Oprah.
My goal is to run 2 miles or so on Thursday and then run 4, the most ever for me, on Saturday. I think that’ll get me on track for my 10k training. 4 miles…doesn’t seem that long, but I know it’s going to be tough. At this point I’d be happy with anywhere between 45-50 minutes. That seems reasonable.
I suppose I’ll have to map a new run on MapMyRun…and then drive it, just to be sure. I’m a little neurotic that way. I like to know exactly what I’m doing. Wait, that’s not neurotic. That’s just good planning. Again…Oprah? She’s a fan of planning, right?
Well, that’s about it for now. Here’s to tingly feet, sore backs…and the feeling of accomplishment after a solid run.
P.S. I listened to two Stuff You Should Know podcasts today, both good. The one on the Ig Nobel awards and the one about micro-lending. Fascinating and funny.
