Here I am, blogging about my best 5k run yet, drinking some Rwanda Musasa coffee (bullrunroasting.com) from Sara Groves and getting ready to go to the travel clinic to see if I need any shots or anything for my trip to Haiti in January. That's a solid morning.
Everything went really well with the run. Shoes felt great, body felt good...no problems to report. I listened to Stuff You Should Know (totem pole episode; hilarious) and a few Sara Groves songs. I deliberately put 30 minutes of content on my iPod to see if I could finish without having to repeat anything and, lo and behold, I did it! 29:17. My first sub-30-minute 5k. Happy running! I didn't use any of those sick gels today, either. Curse you, energy gels! CURSE YOU! Actually...I'll probably need you someday. Un-curse you. And now I'm talking to energy gel. Outstanding.
The only problem with this morning was the dream I had right before I got up. See, our truck was really having problems (in my dream) and when I looked under the hood...no engine. Someone had stolen the engine. And I wasn't mad about it; I was just annoyed. I got a cop to come and get the report, but then we were at the library for some reason and he kept getting distracted by carousing youth and would chase them down to give them tickets. This just made me more frustrated. And didn't help to retrieve my stolen engine. Oh, well...what are you going to do? Then I woke up. Weird, right?
Anyway, one week from today I'll be running my first 10k. Then I'll write the re-cap. Then I'll have to come up with the next thing. Bitter sweet.
Way to end on an upper, Ryan. Oh, awesome...you start by cursing energy gels and then apologizing to them and now you're talking to yourself. Great.
And that, folks, is all.
