I cried a little during my run this morning.
This morning I was determined to run (because of what I wrote yesterday), so I geared up (oh, how I've missed you "geared up") and took off early. It was really cold (28 degrees) and I just wore my shorts. Well, I had a long-sleeved shirt and hat and glove, but you know what I mean. I turned on the new Switchfoot album, freshly loaded onto my vintage shuffle, and let it wash over me as I ran.
At about the 3/4 mile mark of my usual path, there's a small hill and I love the down slope after that. Today, going down, everything felt right. My body felt good, the scenery was familiar, the song was perfect...and I started to choke-up. I seriously said, "What the?" aloud. I started and stopped (crying) three times before I could get past it.
I'm actually glad I did. After the last couple weeks and my inconsistency, it was really good to have everything come together like that. To get out there, feel good, and have a (slight) cry. That's a good run.
The rest of the run went well, although the last 1/2 mile was pretty painful. My left shin really hurt, but I expected I'd feel sore since I'm still recovering from the weekend. Nothing some stretching couldn't relieve.
Looking forward to a longer run this weekend!
15 days to the race...
