No More Sleeps

Today's the big day.

I'm sitting here on the couch, a little earlier than I wanted to get up, robed and bundled up under a blanket listening to the wind rip through my backyard as I type. I'm trying not to get caught up in the details, but that's kind of my thing. I'm sure you know that by now.

I got all my stuff out last night. It's all here and ready to go, so I shouldn't need to worry about any of that. But, when should I eat? When should I leave? Will I find a good place to park? Will my family find a place to park and get there on time and will I be able to find them? Will I find my friends? Will it be so windy and cold that...ok, just stop it. See what I mean?

Here's the deal: I'm really excited. I can't wait to GEAR UP and listen to my iPod and run my butt off. I can't wait to see my friends and other random people that I run into at the race. I can't wait to see my family at the start or the end or both or WHATEVER! I'm just excited and this is going to be so much fun. The volunteers on the other hand...how are they going to keep all the cups from blowing all over the place? Ok, seriously...

I feel good. Fresh. Strong. I know I'll finish and it'll be great. I have a feeling I'll be talking to myself a lot. "Just keep going, dude!" "Legs...c'mon...you know I love you, but seriously. GO." "Help me, Jesus." Stuff like that.

Alright...I suppose I better get ready. Awesome.

Smiley face.

  1. Pace is everything, and your greatest risk is going out too fast.
Don't drink too much and you really don't need to eat this morning.
    Have fun!
