Do You Always Do That?

This morning's run went fine. A little short (a little under 2.5, I think), but good.

I keep screwing with stuff, though. Like, I switched my inserts from my old shoes to my new ones and for the left foot it felt great, but the right, not so much. And I know full well I'm not supposed to be making changes to my routine this late in the game, but...it's hard not to. I just want to keep improving my chances to have a good run, ya know? Oh, well. It's not like I'm going to break my leg or anything because of these small nuances. Is small nuances redundant?

The best part of this morning might have been the ice bath. Remember, all this is taking place before I go to work. Weird. Anyway, Julie was in the bathroom getting ready for the day as I filled the tub and stood there waiting to submerge. Once it was full, I grabbed my hot water bottle and started to get in. I started yelling at myself. "YOU. IDIOT. WHAT are you DOING??" "Do you do this every time?" Julie asked. "What, take an ice bath?" "No, tell yourself how stupid you are," she said. And the truth is...yes. I do that every time. That first minute or two are excruciating, but then it's bliss. Just like drinking scotch. Wait, what?

Well, dear reader, in less than 48 hours I'll have run my first 10k. A big deal for me. Also, a big deal for this website. I say this because I have rigged up a system where, as I cross the finish line, this website will EXPLODE! PTCHOOOOOWWWW.

Liar.
